2 years old girl was admitted to emergency clinic

2 years old girl was admitted to emergency clinic. She had fever up to 37,6°C, runny
nose and sore throat from the morning, parents report that she was active, played and had normal appetite. They were awaked at the 3 am because child had hoarse
cry and a progressively worsening, harsh, “barky,” cough. Exam: temperature 37,8°
, HR 140 beats per min, BR 36 per min, BP 90/64 mmHg, oxygen saturation 96% in
room air. She is irritated, with good eye contact, in mild respiratory distress. She
has a dry barking cough and a hoarse cry. She has some clear mucus rhinorrhea but
no nasal flaring. Her pharynx is slightly injected, but there is no enlargement or
asymmetry. Her heart is regular without murmurs. The lung exam shows good
aeration and moderate inspiratory stridor at rest. She has visible subcostal
retractions. No wheeze or rhonchi are noted. Her abdomen is flat, soft, and non-
tender. Her extremities are warm and pink with good perfusion.
