A total of 130 Nepali nations have succumbed to global pandemic of novel coronavirus disease

A total of 130 Nepali nations have succumbed to global pandemic of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the foreign land. According to the Non-Resident Nepalese Association (NRNA), those losing their life as a result of COVID-19 infection lived in 13 different countries.

Dr Sanjeev Sapkota who coordinates the Health Committee of the NRNA, said the highest number of COVID-19 deaths among Nepali nationals has been recorded in the United Kingdom. A total of 67 Nepali nationals have died so far.

Similarly, 19 people died of COVID-19 infection in the United Arab Emirates, 17 in the United States of America and nine others in Saudi Arabia, according to the NRNA. Qatar and Bahrain reported the death of seven and three Nepali nationals, respectively, while one Nepali each died in Turkey, Ireland, Japan, Netherlands and Sweden so far due to COVID-19 infection.

Over 26,000 Nepali nationals abroad tested positive for COVID-19

A total of 26,227 Nepalis living in different countries abroad have been infected by COVID-19 as of Saturday.

The highest COVID-19 tally has been reported in Qatar with 18,400 cases of infection. As per the statistics released by the NRNA, 1,600 Nepali nationals were infected in the USA, 1,221 in the UK, 674 in Saudi Arabia and 311 others in Bahrain.

Similarly, COVID-19 infection among Nepalis living abroad include 200 in the UAE, 84 in Kuwait, 49 in Malaysia, 29 in Portugal, 22 in Ireland, 23 in Spain, 13 in Canada, 12 in Australia and 10 each in Japan and Maldives.

Similarly, six Nepali nationals tested positive for COVID-19 in Belgium, five in Switzerland, four in Germany, three each in Cyprus and New Zealand, two each in Malta, Hong Kong and Poland, and one each in Myanmar and France, according to the Health Committee of the NRNA.
