About the GPE Pathway Registrar Training Program
The General Practice Experience Pathway Registrar Training Program (GPE Pathway Registrar Training Program) is a world-class vocational training program for international medical graduates (IMG) who are already experienced General Practitioners. The GPE Pathway Registrar Training Program offers the only structured, formalised program, to allow international General Practitioners a training pathway to attaining specialist registration in Australia as a specialist General Practitioner through Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. The GPE Pathway Registrar Training Program provides vocational training in AGPAL (Australian General Practice Accreditation Limited) or QPA (Quality Practice Accreditation) accredited General Practice positions, combined with formal teaching to prepare registrars for the RACGP Fellowship Exams. Registrars completing this program also receive a competitive salary from employment in an accredited General Practice.

This GPE Pathway Registrar Training Program is suitable for IMG General Practitioners who are unable to pursue an alternative pathway through the RACGP Specialist Recognition Program (SRP), or associated Specialist Recognition Registrar Training Program operated by METC Institute. Successful completion of the GPE Pathway Registrar Training Program allows attainment of specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia (through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency – AHPRA) and Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

Successful graduates of the program are also guaranteed an offer of employment (conditional on meeting Department of Immigration & Border Protection requirements) as a Vocationally Registered (VR) General Practitioner through METC Institute’s extensive primary care network.
