Aging - Skin Problems in the Elderly: Normal, Disease or Abuse ?

-There is a lack of training in during residency for dermatologists to deal with the geriatric population. Yet skin problems in this age group are more than prevalent: benign and malignant tumors, skin. signs of internal malignancy to name just a few…by the way “Geriatric Dermatology” is a relatively recent term in textbooks.

-With an aging population it is becoming increasingly important for dermatologists to distinguish skin changes…and that includes skin signs of mistreatment.
This letter to the Editor raises the issue, exposes the gap and opens the debate.
