All Emirates require a separate license to practice medicine

-To practice Medicine in Dubai you need to obtain a license from the Dubai Health Authority or DHA
-To practice medicine in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain you need to obtain a license from the Health Authority Abu Dhabi (HAAD)
-All other Emirates in the UAE require a separate license obtained by the Ministry of Health (MOH)
-A separate license by Harvard International is issued for the Dubai Health Care City (DHCC), a free Zone with the -Government of Dubai as your sponsor. This license allows to set up a practice strictly within the DHCC.

DHA Healthcare Professionals may apply for DHA licensure under one of the following types of licenses:

Full License
Provisional License: Specialist Under Supervision : those who do not meet the requirements for full license. They must work under supervision of a Specialist/Consultant from the same specialty.

RECOGNISED SPECIALTY CERTIFICATES

Doctors from the UK are required to obtain the following certificates:

TIER 1

Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST)
Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT)
Specialist Registration with the General Medical Council (GMC)
Certificate of Completion of Training in General Practice awarded by PMETB and Registration with the GMC as a GP
TIER 2

Fellowship of the Royal Colleges before 1996
or

Specialty issued by the Joint Royal Colleges of Physicians
TIER 3
Membership/ Fellowship of the Royal Colleges after 1996
In order to obtain the professional license, healthcare professionals are required to pass the DHA assessment which can be either: Computer Based Testing or Oral assessment.

General practitioners from the UK who have successfully completed the United Kingdom Professional and Linguistic Assessment Board Test Part II (PLAB II) are exempted from the DHA Assessment.

Specialist Physicians from the UK who have successfully completed one of the following International examinations are also exempted from the DHA Assessment:

Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (C.C.S.T.) or
Certificate of Completion of Training (C.C.T.) or
Certificate of Completion of Training in General Practice
APPLICATION PROCESS

The applicant will be required to follow several steps which are extremely rigorous and difficult unless you’re very familiar with the process.

The Licensing and Accreditation Section in the HRD will verify your application (6 weeks)
The certificates will be sent for Primary Source Verification “PSV” (second payment)
Applicant can choose date for the assessment and make the third payment
Conduct and pass assessment
Upload labour card, insurance and make the fourth payment.
The applicant is required to visit the HRD to collect the DHA license after 2 days of payment
HAAD
It is required to obtain a licensure prior to practicing in any healthcare facility within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
