Carbon and Silicon have same valency but Carbon shows catenation while silicon does not.WHY…?

Pls this group is not for applied or industrial chemistry students.

Because carbon has the ability to form straight, branched or ring carbon to carbon bond

Because of their variable oxidation state

There are two conditions for catenation;it most hv a valency greater than or equal to two ;which both have.
It most also form strong c to carbon bonds with itself and also other elements like oxygen which has comparable energy ;this, only carbon can do

Because size of silicon is very large in comparision to carbon…therefore catenation(tendency to bond with same kind of element via covalent bond) is not effective or strong…therefore catenation is very weak in silicon and in subsequent group members…
