complete tear of supraspinatus
The partial tear of the supraspinatus tendon is responsible for painful arc syndrome rather than a complete tear
Painful arc syndrome also known as impingement syndrome,is a clinical syndrome in which there is pain in the shoulder and upper arm during the mid range (between 60-120 degree) of shoulder abduction.this arises because of the repetitive rubbing of the supraspinatus tendon under the coracoacromial arch.
Cause include
-Minor tears of the supraspinatus tendon
-Chronic supraspinatus tendinitis
-calcification of supraspinatus tendon
-fracture of the greater tuberosity
-subacromial bursitis.
