Danis-Weber classification of Ankle fractures:

Type A fractures result from supination-adduction with resulting lateral tensile failure and either disruption of the lateral collateral ligament or a transverse distal fracture of the lateral malleolus.

Type B fractures are caused by either supination external rotation or pronation adduction mechanism. The resulting fibula fracture is typically located at or below the plafond, and it is either spiral or laterally comminuted.

Type C fractures are caused by a pronation external rotation with the fibula fracture demonstrated at variable levels above the plafond.
