Honestly speaking, RHTC

Honestly speaking, RHTC (Rural Health Training Centre) for every intern is 1 month of chilling. I had the same mindset. But these 4 weeks have been a revelation for me.

The amount of respect one receives in such small villages, is something I can’t even begin to explain. During a subcentre visit last week, the villagers gave us coconuts to show their gratitude. I felt like the Grinch, whose heart grew three sizes and finally felt joy in life. Not just happinesses, but pure joy!

For someone like me; coming from a non-medical family, growing up seeing my parents have immense respect for doctors; the harsh reality of hospitals in the city where patients are thankless and ever ready to grab your collar; these sub-centre visits, awareness programs and health camps were the highlights of my internship year.

Going to miss listening to “Daactar sahab, gode dukhat aur perr mein mungi aahe. Tonic chi botli det na” 😊.
