I had written this poem a long time ago but felt like sharing it today.A tribute to doctors all over the world.

Glamorous to the world I seem
Shining in my success today
The tireless years of pain and sweat
In my heart are hidden way

Confidence echoes in my voice
As I say, “Scalpel please”
Silently I utter a prayer
To put my nervous mind to ease

Every case is a challenge new
There are so many hurdles, unforeseen too
But I fight for my patient with my skill
For win I must and I will!

I cannot let my concentration quiver
Not for a second should my mind waver
The margin for error is so small
I lose my nerve and lost is all

But my tired body and exhausted mind
Take only a second to unwind
When I see your smiling face
As I say “Your patient is safe”

And should I in my duty fail
Despite all the effort I make
My heart aching with guilt and pain
For countless nights I stay awake

Perhaps I bit of myself I lose
In every patient that I infuse
But there is nothing else I want to be
A doctor forever, that is me!!
