I see the surgeon tomorrow

I see the surgeon tomorrow, 4 weeks post ACL/meniscus tear/tibia plateau crack. So much of what I’ve seen here leads me to believe that because of my age (mid 60s) the surgeon may recommend against surgery, just do PT and live with the consequences of an unstable knee. You would never know I have an ACL tear unless I wear my brace which makes me walk weird. I live a very active life (downhill skiing, hiking, dog agility, which all require pivoting). Yes I understand people can return to skiing (double diamonds though?); but I was told by the initial surgeon that agility is out because of the torque it puts on knees. I have a lot of friends who have returned to agility after knee replacement and it doesn’t seem like anywhere near the kind of recovery as an ACL reconstruction (just watched a friend my age running agility 3 months post knee replacement). Why wouldn’t they consider this? I have very little arthritis but I understand an ACL tear alone will increase my chances of it.
