Hey everyone, hope studying is going well ! I seem to find conflicting information about CAD vs stroke in terms of risk factors of smoking, diabetes, and HTN. They all are risk factors, but…
- The worst risk factor for CAD is diabetes (master the boards)
- Master the boards says stopping smoking will “result in the most immediate benefit” for CAD
- Uworld and NBME usually have “control hypertension” as the right answer.
It would suck to get this question wrong if it will be worded a bit differently on step 2. Would anyone clarify when we would put diabetes management, smoking cessation, or HTN management for CAD or Stroke assuming all three are in the answer choices?
stroke: HTN
Athsc: smoke> DM> HTN>lipid disease
personally im not even thinking of giving two extra minutes on the risk factor section since it will either be a know or don’t know situation.
