IFTH-STH: Who is Esther CHRYSOSTOME? | resident in Haiti

Esther CHRYSOSTOME, a young fighter and resourceful woman living in Haiti is among a host of models and inspiring Haitian women around the world selected by the Women’s Initiative in Tourism (IFTH) and Sco Tour Haiti (STH) for the pay tribute during the month of May 2020.

Born in Port-au-Prince in 1994, Esther CHRYSOSTOME is a dentist surgeon and chemist who has completed her university studies at the Faculty of Odontology of Haiti State University (UEH) and to.

Esther CHRYSOSTOME works as a teacher of practical chemistry and exercises dental medicine in a private clinic where she provides preventive and healing care. In order to raise awareness and help improve the oral health of the Haitian population, in 2017 she founded the organization Care organization in collaboration with several dentists colleagues in her promotion. This organization works mainly to improve the oral health of vulnerable populations through mobile clinic and training on oral pathologies and their method of prevention.

She has taken an active part in the realization of various community projects, including those carried out with: La FHI (For Hope International) aimed at improving children’s oral health in orphanages by providing them with preventive care. For example:

  • Camp Morning Star 2019, a camp during which it gave preventive care to the population of Anse-à-Veal and has also trained more than a hundred children on methods of preventing oral pathologies.

  • JCI Health Fair 2019 City Innovation where it conducted a training session for the population

  • JCI Delmas Excellence project in Haiti by JCI Delmas Excellence in collaboration with Prodental Care

Esther CHRYSOSTOME is a lover of poetry, theatre and above all a passionate about chess games. Her love for volunteering encourages her to join the Young Chamber of Delmas Excellence in 2017. That same year she held the position of General Secretary of the Health Committee 2017 of the organization. In 2019, she represented her Local Member Organization (JCI Delmas Excellence) at the national public art competition organized by JCI Haiti and won first place in the competition.

She started her journey in the local office of JCI Delmas in 2018 and in 2020 her concern to create positive impact in communities and her dynamism in the organization contributed to her election as a Local President 2020 and she has become the youngest elected president of the organization. Let us remember that the Young International Chamber is a world-recognized organization that brings together several national and local organizations and has the mission of providing young people with development opportunities that will allow them to create positive and sustainable change in their communities.

Esther CHRYSOSTOME is a young Christian woman who is one of those who believe that the human person is the most precious of riches and that serving humanity is truly the most noble work of a life. She also believes that change is an individual will before raising collective awareness, it wants to be an agent of positive change in the Haitian community, as stated in the slogan 2020 of the organization, she commits to serve with passion in order to inspire others.
