-Leprosy is a granulomatous disease affecting the Skin and the Nervous system
-It was first described in Norway by Armauer Hansen, who gave the alternate name to the condition.
-It is caused by the bacillus Mycobacterium Leprae and Mycobacterium Lepromatosis.
-It is prevalent in many tropical countries but its highest incidence is in Brazil and India. (The world map of affected countries can be seen here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Lepra_2003.png)
-Ridley Jopling and WHO classifications delineate the different presentations depending on host immunity.
