    1. Nasal surgery
    1. Syphilis
    1. Rhinosporidiosis

  • Causes of septal perforation are : -

1) Trauma

2) Iatrogenic : - Nasal surgery, nasal intubation or nasogastric tube placement

  1. Chronic inflammation (Wegener’s granulomatosis, Syphilis, T.B. Leprosy, atrophic rhinitis, Sarcoidosis)
  2. Nasal myiasis
  3. Rhinolith or neglected foreign body.
  4. As a complication of septal abscess or hematoma, if drainage is delayed.
  5. Poisons (cocaine, topical steroids and decongestants)
  6. Tumours of septum e.g., chondrosarcoma, granuloma
  7. Idiopathic
