Lichen Planus:

Lichen Planus is the hallmark of lichenoid skin diseases.
-It was described in 1869 by the British Dermatologist Sir Erasmus Wilson
-It is best memorized by using the “5 P’s rule”.

  1. Papules
  2. Pruritic
  3. Purple
  4. Polygonal
  5. Planar
    -Lesions can be located anywhere but predominate on the wrists
    -White streaks called Wickham’s Striae can be seen (more so in the oral mucosa) and are due to increased in thickness of the Granular layer.
