This middle-aged gentleman was admitted to ER with “bleeding everywhere.” He was obviously unwell. CBC showed high WBC, low Hgb, and very low platelets. Coagulation profile is very abnormal. (Prolonged INR, aPTT, FDP, TT).

This is an excellent case of Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia with DIC (schistiocytes present and absent platelet). The WBC morphology are those of promyelocytes with fine granules, folded nucleus, and occasional bundles of Auer rods. One image shows a cytoplasmic fragment with multiple Auer rods).

The old term “Faggot cell” is no longer appropriate to use to describe these cells as it is disrespectful to use such term. So in your comment please refrain from using the term.
