When azythromycin is used and when cephodoxcin is used?

Cefpodoxime works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering which is essential for the survival of the bacteria. Azithromycin stops bacterial growth by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions.

Both are anti-microbial drugs of different classes.

azithromycin is longer acting macrolide antibiotics ,can be given orally or by injection. Azithromycin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis.

Cefpodoxime is third generation cephalosporins. They are beta lactam antibiotics with 7aminocephalosporanic acid nucleus. They act similar to penicillins.suitable for oral use

Both drugs have their uses according to complications.
