A 34-year-old female with a history of alcoholic liver disease

A 34-year-old female with a history of alcoholic liver disease is admitted with frank

haematemesis. She was discharged three months ago following treatment for bleeding

esophageal varices. Following resuscitation, what is the most appropriate treatment whilst

awaiting endoscopy?

a. Octreotide

b Terlipressin

c. Omeprazole

d. Propranolol

Ppi should not be given before endo . stabilise the pt , Thn give iv octreotide (doc) but best is terli .thn at last propranolol

PPI has role after doing endoscopy

So while Endoscopy is being planned best will be go for terlipressin (doc)> octreotide(used mostly). Iv Propanolol is contraindicated in acute variceal bleeding ; only oral propanolol given for prophylaxis once patient is discharged
