A 74 year old male had underwent surgery for peptic ulcer 35 years ago

A 74 year old male had underwent surgery for peptic ulcer 35 years ago.He now presents with symptoms that include abdominal pain, bloating about 30–40 minutes after eating,accompanied by nausea.If he vomits, the symptoms are relieved.

On physical examination,the vital signs are normal,there is an old midline scar on the abdomen, but no focal tenderness,guarding, no masses or organomegaly that is palpated

This pattern of symptoms are characteristic of afferent loop syndrome.

It is caused by distention and incomplete drainage of afferent loop and it requires surgical correction
