What is the difference in management between a membranous urethra rupture and extraperitoneal bladder rupture. Where do we put Foley’s and where is it contraindicated
Extraperitoneal - foleys for 6-7 days
Mem urethral rupture- suprapubic cath first than meatoplasty
Geet Gaurav but as most of the times extraperitoneal rupture is accompanied by proximal urethral rupture as well so can we put Foley’s there?
in urethral rupture we avoid catherisation as it may convert incomplete tear into a complete one. In cases of urethral rupture along with extperitoneal rupture clinical features will be mentioned like blood at tip of meatus. Else only consider bladder rupture
