Once presumptive diagnosis is made: Immediate next step is iv heparin (and continue anticoagulation with heparin even in POSTOP period untill anticoagulation with warfarin is established). Once iv heparin given and if patient has come WITHIN 6hr: take the patient for embolectomy>Thrombolysis ( it is definitive management).
CT angio is done after the procedure to ensure the flow to distal leg has been restored. If presentation is late: amputation is needed
