Aspergillus fumigatus

Aspergillus fumigatus

Allergic Fungal Rhinosinusitis is a cause of refractory chronic sinusitis in young and immuno-competent.

While Aspergillus fumigatus remains a main cause it can be caused by any other fungal organism.

Treatment usually starts as medical management with topical/oral decongestants, mucolytics, anti histamines and intra nasal corticosteroids.
Oral anti fungal agents are started in moderate to severe cases.
Surgical intervention is planned in cases not responding to medical management.
