In medicine it’s mostly about self study right??..imo the stigma is the main con…one of my friend’s husband took DM gastro after DNB medicine… obviously he is at a better position than many of his MD counterparts

Yes. Medicine can be self studied and perfected. But not general surgery.
If you don’t get proper guidance and hands-on experience during PG, then the surgeon is as good as an observer.
Hence everyone needs to avoid DNB general surgery.
If they don’t want to jeopardize their career due to less training & academics.
Most of the well known faculties in DAMS and other institutions they say dnb surgical branches from good institutions are far better than ms surgical branches from peripheries.
