Bruise is more common over bony surfaces?

How exactly fat affects bruise? Is it make it easier to get bruised or bruise is more common over bony surfaces? (Contradictory statement in these two explanations)

The first explanation denotes that areas with less fat are prone to bruising due to ‘LESS’ cushioning effect of fat between the bone and object. This does not mean that areas with fat will never bruise. The second statement explains that if at all a bruise occurs, the bleeding that leads to the bruising is situated in the subcutaneous area often the fat layer.

Thank you.
