Cataract Surgery with Xtrafocus Pinhole Implant

We present Cataract Surgery with Xtrafocus Pinhole Implant , one of the first in Europe. This ingenious intraocular implant was devised to treat irregular astigmatism and higher-order aberrations from corneal ectasia (keratoconus) or mild corneal scarring/opacities, with potential for improving both distance and near uncorrected vision.

We performed this surgery in a patient with cataract and residual corneal subepithelial infiltrates presisting after topical tratment and Excimer LASER PTK treatment. The patient had myopic shift and residual opacities.

At three months of follow-up an excellent vision recovery was achieved.

In this video we detail the cataract surgery and technique for Xtrafocus implantation
