Complications of immunosuppression infection

COMPLICATIONS OF IMMUNOSUPPRESSION INFECTION
•High risk of infection by viruses (CMV Infection) during first 6month.
•Recipient derived infections are more common then donar derived infections.
• Bacterial infection- during first month
Chemoprophylaxis is important in high risk patients.
•Pre-transplant vaccination against community acquired infection should be considered.

MALIGNANCY
•MC malignancy in transplant recipient: skin cancer(SCC)
•Increase risk of PTLD and kaposi sarcoma.

NON IMMUNE SIDE EFFECTS
•Hypertension and chronic allograft nephropathy - Calcineurin inhibitors.
•New onset diabetes - tacrolimus and steroids.
•Hyperlipidemia, anaemia , accelerated cardiovascular disease.

•Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in transplant survivor
