Developmental Anamolies Of Middle Ear & TM:

  1. Small TM: feature of congenital rubella syndrome.
  2. KORNER’S Septum: Persistent petrosquamous suture. Surgical
    importance: difficult to identify mastoid antrum leading to incomplete
    clearance of disease from mastoid.
  3. MASTOID ANTRUM: Adult size at Birth
  4. MASTOID TIP: Appears at 2 years. Below 2years facial nerve is superficial
    ( below skin). Post auricular incision-superior and horizontal to avoid nerve injury.
