Edema in nephrotic syndrome is due to –
- Sodium & water retention
- Increased venous pressure
- Proteinuria in nephrotic syndrome leads to hypoalbuminemia that results in decreased colloid osmotic pressure which results in edema.
- “The edema formation of nephrotic syndrome is secondary to increased sodium retention from intravascular volume depletion from low plasma oncotic pressure due to hypoalbuminemia.”
