EXP:
- Fluorescein angiography can be used for dynamic flow study of iris, retina or choroid.
- However, it is used most commonly in the diagnosis and management of a large number of fundus disorders, i.e. retina, optic-disc (optic nerve head) and fovea centralis.
- Fluorescein angiography visualize retinal neovascularization better than choroidal neovascularization.
- Major indications are :
i) Diabetic retinopathy;
ii) Vascular occlusions;
iii) Eale’s disease;
iv) Central serous retinopathy;
v) Cystoid macular degeneration.
- Lens and cornea are avascular structures of eye that’s why fluorescein angiography can’t be used to identify lesions.
