Fluorescein angiography is used to identify lesions in all EXCEPT –

    1. Retina
    1. Lens
    1. Optic nerve head
    1. Iris

EXP:

  • Fluorescein angiography can be used for dynamic flow study of iris, retina or choroid.
  • However, it is used most commonly in the diagnosis and management of a large number of fundus disorders, i.e. retina, optic-disc (optic nerve head) and fovea centralis.
  • Fluorescein angiography visualize retinal neovascularization better than choroidal neovascularization.
  • Major indications are :

i) Diabetic retinopathy;

ii) Vascular occlusions;

iii) Eale’s disease;

iv) Central serous retinopathy;

v) Cystoid macular degeneration.

  • Lens and cornea are avascular structures of eye that’s why fluorescein angiography can’t be used to identify lesions.
