Which hormone is first to decrease in Sheehan’s syndrome?3
Growth hormone (GH) is the first to fall in Sheehan syndrome. The hormones are affected in the order of GH → Prolactin → LH and FSH → ACTH → TSH. GH deficiency is very common in Sheehan’s syndrome because somatotrophs are located in the lower and lateral regions of the pituitary gland, and are most likely to be damaged by ischemic necrosis of the pituitary.
Thank you.
