Autoimmune disorder
Etiology -Unknown, usually post infective - GI/URTI
M/C form - Acute inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy
Others- Miller Fisher syndrome, AMSAN
Causative agents- influenza, CMV, EBV, Mycoplasma, HIV/AIDS
Presentation- Weakness- distal to proximal , may involve respiratory muscles, autonomic functions are also known to be affected
Treatment- No cure , supportive treatment with IVIG and plasmapheresis on alternate days. chances for relapse-3%
