Hello guys . got my score report … it’s 230
I am from KNMU, Ukraine … Getting into my 6th year this month. Began my prep at the beginning of my 4th year. .
Resources used mostly :
Kaplan
Boards and beyond
Uworld
First Aid
100 cases of ethics
Randy Neil biostats…
I started with the little knowledge I could retain after doing kaplan notes and videos scoring 171 (failed) on Nbme 13 which took around 3 months.
At this point I knew it was long road ahead. But I was determined!! I had to do it and was more than willing to push through.
That’s when I came across boards and beyonds ( EVERYONE was talking about it, so I thought it was worth a shot ). Completed it in 3 months ( made separate notes ) and then went nbme 15 after revision of my notes which I passed scoring 214 (not bad)!! It was a good decision, really helped me catch a good grip of the concepts so I strongly recommend BnB.
After that I felt confident than ever and I started with uworld, took me a long time(6 months) because of University classes and regular curriculum but it’s pretty doable in less time with more dedicated schedule and self control lol
In March 2020 in between my uworld schedule, roughly 4 months into it, I went for Amboss self assessment cuz I was tired and wanted to get a quick check of where I stand : 240 ( took me by surprise and at the same time boosted me to believe I could cross 240 )
I completed my uworld with 77% in first pass.
Then I gave UWSA 1 :- 234
I started having mixed feelings but I figured I had to push harder
Next I did fa alongwith UWorld missed questions
After that I flew back home and that’s when entered my dedicaed period of study without any distractions of the uni
I mainly focused on my weak areas during this time. I was lacking in behavioral, biostats and genetics. Picked those up and gave them a good whole week studying for 14-15 hours a day.
I scored 243 on the UWSA 2 after revising everything once.
I felt ready for the exam at this time as I was aiming for 240+
But as fate may have it, during my dedicated period I was diagnosed with COVID-19. It was a huge blow to my prep with on and off fever and very little energy to get through the day. It killed a few days on my schedule and threw me off the wagon. After recovering I wrote nbme 21- got 229( 2 weeks from the real thing )
During these 2 weeks ,i had persistent lower leg pain which I mostly ignored cuz all I could think was of my low score … I knew I had to study despite everything … studied my a** off for the rest of the time I had left and went for the exam … it was after my exam that i had a proper checkup n sadly was then diagnosed with DVT. Now m dealing with this but I have this sense of peace that at last I did what i wanted to. I could have done even better maybe but God is the ultimate power and i am thankful and satisfied … I wish all the good luck to you guys who are preparing despite many problems in their normal daily schedule … I know everyone has their own share of hardships may it be depression, family stuff etc etc . But I say it with my hand held to my heart that your hardwork will pay off. The feeling of achieving small things will add up to more positivity and more grit. So jus keep going your way and trust the Almighty… if i can do it anybody can.
I started with little guidance but great determination and where I am today is all because of a few people that I met along the way that made the difference bw me being a regular student and an achiever … I urge u all to not give up and push through so that u could also have the sweet taste of success. I would love to help anybody cuz that’s what I have learnt from my past that a little support can take someone a long way. Feel free to reach out friends, maybe I can be the help, that I received during my tough times which made all the difference for me … I’m only trying to give back to the universe for the reward I received from it!! I jus did a quick review here, wanted to write more about my prep but I think it’s already too lengthy.
