How come, hyperpigmentation n VITILGO go hand in hand in primary adrenal deficiency?
Basically primary adrenal insufficiency and vitiligo both are autoimmune disorders.
So there is distinct possibility that both can co-exist.
Hyperpigmentation in Addison’s disease is due to increased levels of ACTH that stimulate melanocytes. Vitiligo can be seen in association with association with hyperpigmentation in idiopathic autoimmune Addison disease, due to the autoimmune destruction of melanocytes.
Thank you.
