Hey guys! Just curious… how difficult is it to get an appointment with an orthopaedic doctor where you live?
I’m in Cairns, QLD and it seems to be damn near impossible to see an ortho. First you need your GP’s referral, then the ortho sorts them and makes an appointment based on urgency.
I did my knee again (6 months post-op), I’m in a lot of pain and they tell me the earliest appointment is September
How does it work in your country?
Also… a question to my fellow Aussies - any ideas or tips to help a gal out? I have private health cover.
I’m a few states over in SA - I didn’t have private health at the time but I saw my GP and she gave me a referral to a knee specialist which also does surgeries (both public and private) and I got categorised as semi urgent (within 90 days) and I had full acl reconstruction and dual meniscus repair 1 week before Rona shut down surgeries
So for you fi you got private check your cover out - if they cover you for it you should be able to get the surgery ASAP!
Feel free to PM me if you need any more help or advice!
