How does Stapedotomy actually mobilise the stapes footplate

how does Stapedotomy actually mobilise the stapes footplate which is already fixed/osteosed at the otosclerotic foci of stapedial type of otosclerosis, despite an opening is induced in the centre of the fixed foot plate and placing the piston in the opening? Movement of the piston shouldn’t be able to move the already osteosed footplate as only the piston is mobile, in that case we need to remove the entire fixed footplate and reconstruct the footplate accordinly?

When the piston is put by making an opening on the footplate , only the piston moves and transmits the vibrations of the ossicular chain to the inner ear .
