It was once a guaranteed job giver in corporate set ups although it was not mci recognised… But with presence and increaae of seats of md and dnb emergency medicine it has lost its sheen… Better to diploma in a good clinical subject than doing it in the present scenario and given the expenditure associated
People are giving their opinion without having any knowledge about prospective branch is very bad thing .MEM is really good ,if you will do from good institute.yes it is stress full job bcz you would be front warrior in your hospital ,but people are earning more then general physician in recent era,2nd thing u will be stress free after u done your duty mean your work only make the diagnosis , stabilization and primary treatment of pt .U will get inner happyness when you will save someone’s life. Most people set out in abroad countries(like Uk after clearing MRKM exam -which is easy as compare to usmle, you will get only real emergency question in this exam) after doing MEM or During.
MEM is a good option if u r planning to set urself abroad…
U can crack all the 3 steps of MRCEM ( valid degree in many countries like UK and middle east) and then work as a consultant there…
If u want to work in India then better go for dnb/MD as MEM will soon b outdated in private hospitals!!!
