how to differentiate holstein lewis from supracondylar humerus fracture ? They both look somewhat similar but the nerve injured are different .
Holstein-Lewis fracture is characterised by an oblique fracture line at the junction of the middle and distal thirds of the humerus whereas in supracondylar fracture of humerus the humerus breaks just above the condyles. The distal fragment is pushed backwards and twists inwards. The jagged end of the proximal fragment pokes anteriorly into the soft tissues and may injure the median nerve or brachial artery.
Thank you.
