How to estimate his ovulating date
Ovulating is the release of the oocyte by the ovaries. To get pregnant, she needs to be impregnated by a sperms. Knowing the date it happens, you naturally increase your chances of starting a pregnancy. To calculate it, you must know the duration of your cycle, that is, the number of days between the first day of your period and the first day of the following rules.
You have a “Classic” cycle of 28 days: your ovulating takes place on the 14th day after the first day of your period.
You have a short cycle: if your cycle lasts 21 days, your ovulating will take place on the 7th day from the first day of your period. To know the date of your ovulating, just subtracting 14 from the duration of your cycle. If it lasts 25 days, the ovulating takes place on the 11th day (25-14). If it lasts 24, it will be on the 10th day (24-14). ).).).).).).).
You have a long cycle: just apply the same calculation. If your cycle lasts 33 days, your ovulating takes place on the 19th day after the first day of your period, that is 33-14 = 19.
You have an irregular cycle: it is harder to estimate your date of ovulating from this simple calculation.
Can we calculate it more precisely?
To know your date of ovulating, three other methods are possible:
The Temperature Curve: every day you rate your temperature on a chart. Before Ovulating, your curve is usually between 36,1° and 36,7°C, a period that corresponds to the ripening of the egg. Towards the middle of the cycle, the temperature increases by a few tenths of degrees and stays above 37°C until the end of the cycle. This moment of transition shows that your ovulating has taken place. This method doesn’t really allow you to anticipate your ovulating, unless you make your curve several months in a row.
The Fertility Calendar: a simple and fast method to know the date when you are likely to ovulate. Just enter the duration of your cycle and the first day of your period.
The ovulating test: sold in pharmacy like pregnancy tests, it allows you to detect in the urine the rate of the male and luteinizing hormone that increases with the approach of the ovulating. This is the most reliable method.
