Q how will uh manage complex regional pain syndrome ?
Q IASP criteria for CRPS?
Q difference between CRPS 1 and CRPS 2 ?
Q differentiate CRPS from other pain syndromes ?
Management - opioids , Gabapentin
Physiotherapy ,
CRPS 1- WITHOUT NERVE INJURY
CRPS 2 WITH NERVE INJURY
DIAGNOSITIC - IASP criteria
CRPS pain is disproportinate to the injury… This differentiate from other pathology
Management options for CRPS namaste are many
. Physical therapy
. Drugs (Analgesic, anti inflammatory like steroids Vitc etc, sympathetic blockers etc)
. Psychotherapy (eg Mirror box therapy etc)
Criteria used
1.IASP (less specificity)
2.Budapest (more specificity)
CRPS 1 without nerve injury
CRPS 2 with nerve injury
Both can be D/b via NCS/EMG
Differentiating features from other pain syndrome
1.Pain will be out of proportion to the inciting injury (if any)
-
Pain will not be limited to the dermatomal distribution
-
Other features of CRPS will be there (Sudomotor/vasomotor/motor/trophic) Dr can uh differentiate between IASP criteria and Budapest
Old IASP doesn’t includes these subjective categories unlike budapest (new IASP)
