Hey Omar! Sorry to trouble you but my I had an issue and I would really appreciate if you could kindly post this anonymously.
I have a friend at work who has recently started in another department. The other day she and her co-worker were called by their consultant. The consultant said to them that some of the colleagues whom they share an office with complained that they were talking in another language. My friend explained that they were discussing the IT system on a computer there. The consultant said that that the other colleagues (who share the same office ) were uncomfortable ( even though their conversation had nothing to do with them as they only share the office together)
The other thing that the consultant mentioned is that the colleagues whom they share an office with complained that my friend smelled like curry. The consultant further added " you know we eat spicy food and sometimes eat garlic. She also encouraged my friend to use perfume.
My friend actually apologized for it I on the other hand was infuriated tbh I don’t think my friend smells like curry and for a consultant to say somethinglike this to their junior is simply appalling.
I am not sure what advice can I offer to my friend but I feel such treatment / behavior should be escalated. I have never had such experience in my entire life/ carer.
Just to add to this. The friends colleague who is with her explained that she had a similar complaint
