In the regular stream (contingent régulier): R-1 Admission to residency training programs in Québec via CaRMS is limited to graduates of accredited medical schools in Canada and the United States of America and International medical graduates who complete the equivalence process of the Collège des médecins du Québec. These graduates must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada, and must not have undertaken previous medical postgraduate training in Canada or the USA. International medical graduates must also prove that they are « Quebec residents », as defined by the Quebec ministry of Education (ministère de l’Éducation et de l’Enseignement supérieur). IMG candidates who do not correspond to these criteria must contact the Quebec faculties of medicine directly to enquire if they may submit an application for admission via the particular stream (contingent particulier).
