But isnt ACEI Contraindicated in Renal failure?
Hello Dr. ACE inhibitors are for control of proteinuria. (Please note that persistent proteinuria is one of the major risk factors for progression of CKD). So ACE inhibitors slow the rate of progression of kidney disease in children .
They are contraindicated in B/L renal artery stenosis and grade IV - V CKD.
Of course, I would monitor serum potassium levels (due to risk of dangerous hyperkalemia)
