in hypoventilation why there is hypercalcemia?
Shouldn’t it be hypocalcemia? Since , hypoventilation means increased Pco2 , that will be compensated by decreased H+ . So , more calcium will now bind to albumin resulting in hypocalcemia.
Please clear this doubt sir.
Hypoventilation Inc Pco2. Respiratory acidosis. The primary pH will be low.
So H+ more, and less Calcium to bind. Bound calcium low, free calcium increase. Hypercalcemia
