In left ventricular failure, which drug can be administered? Why?
a. Propranolol
b. Morphine
c. Amlodipine
d. Epinephrine.
Help please…

Why other drug cannot be administered?

It causes shift to pulmonary circulation

Yes. But can’t we use propranolol and amlodipine?

A. beta blockers- to reduce volume overload

Morphine shifts blood from systemic to pulmonary circulation

But we can’t we use propranolol and amlodipine?

Ccb will reduce contractility …propranolol similarly…however I m not sure about exact reason

Reduce anxiety
Pulmonary vasodilation
It’s a class 2 B or Class I c ithink
In the given choice that is answer

But, can’t we give propranolol and amlodipine?

Braja Ballabh Deori not in heart failure it will kill because both negative ionotropic drugs. And proponalol never in heart failure

Propanol should not be given if it’s acute/decompansated lvf in compansated lvf it can be given but v generally prefer cardioselective beta blockers( bmc)bisprolol metaprolol and carvedolol over propanol
Morphine can be given
Dobutamine is preferred over epinephrine as it is beta 1selective agonist so more cardioselective

B- Venous dilatation reduction in preload less cardiac work easy pumping
Relieves pain in mi reduces anxiety reduces catecholamine effect
