In the definition of “RATE”,it’s mentioned that a time component has to be there. But Sir,I am unable to understand which is exactly the time component in Maternal Mortality Rate or Death Rate or Incidence for that matter.

Incidence is defined as number of new cases occuring in a defined population during a specified period of time i.e no. Of new cases during a time period / population at risk during that time period *1000

Crude death rate is also defined as total deaths / mid year population *1000 here mid year population accounts time…

So both cases are in respect of.time

The tune component in mmr is the number of deaths in “a given period of time “ eg… number of maternal deaths in the month of June divided by the number of live births in June…

In case of incidence… example the number of new tuberculosis cases in period of 2021

Rate includes time as component.

Time in sense of per unit of time

MMR of India is 113/lac LB /year

CDR is 6.2/1000 population/year
