In this Blog Dr Sehrish Shafique has shared her experience of Psychiatry Core Training and how it helped her grow from an anxious new IMG to an extremely confident ST4 doctor.
Her story is that of resilience, persistence, hard work & success.
Dr Shafique is an IMG from Pakistan who started her Psychiatry Core Training in 2016 and despite initial difficulties she overcame every obstacle to successfully complete her core training, pass MRCPsych exam & secured ST4 in North West Deanery.
During her core training she was heavily involved in teaching medical students, took part in OSCE in Newcastle medical school, did a leadership and management course for senior clinicians, did CMI level 7 leadership and management diploma which is equivalent to a masters degree.
She was also trainee representative in the deanery for school of psychiatry and trainee representative for Quality assurance committee. She also undertook national & international poster presentations.
