I have a doubt on vocal cord palsy. In Thyroid module, u have explained that there will be Aphonia and Aspiration in B/L RLN palsy. In ENT, Ma’am explained that in B/L RLN palsy, the speech would be normal and there won’t be aspiration. Please give some clarity Sir.

In B/L RLN injury: all muscles are gone except tensors so

  1. Vocal cord lie in median/paramedian position

  2. speech is Normal

  3. No aspiration occur

  4. But it compromises the airway causing stridor and permanent tracheostomy may be req
