Is anesthesia a clinical branch?
Will it be satisfying for somebody who wants to do core clinical branches and is a workaholic? Genuine advice plz…any insights about anesthesia and the learning it involves, work satisfaction etc.
Depends on the college you choose!!make sure ur college provides icu postings, proper PACS are conducted and post operative care is provided, has a separate critical care dept and a functional pain clinic opd!If all the above criteria are met,it is more clinical than surgical branches!!
what if i get it in places like rohtak and jaipur? Is it worth taking? Colg will remain for only 3 years but branch will remain lifelong…that’s why confused… always wanted to do the core clinical branches…but want a decent govt institute as well…
pgimer and sms are one of the top colleges in India as far as I know!talk to the residents working there!they’ll tell u btr!
you are getting Rohtak Anaesthesia at your rank!!! Then why are you thinking twice. Its one of the best.
belong to that grp my friend!degree toh wahi milegi and you can hone ur skills in srship…but you’ll have a sense of being deprived of required exposure and that’ll affect the amount of effort you’ll require to put to make up for that loss in ur srship!!baaki future course depends on ur efforts rather than college!!!
Its a clinical branch. Its good for you if you are workaholic. Its not about just giving spinal or GA. It involves continuous monitoring through out the surgery. You tell the surgeon when to start stop and resume. Its a cocktail of physio and pharma mainly. Yes its important to know which case is operable and which is not. How to optimise the patients for surgery and carry on from there. Anaesthesia is not about the OT only its also include pre and post OP care. It has its own Cardio Paed Neuro Organ Transplant Pain Obstetrics Trauma subspecialities apart from Critical Care. And many more.
They are trained to stand between life and death. Yes there is instant satisfaction when you save a patient from cardiac arrest or AF or VF or etcs. Yes it is exhausting branch. You work too much but there is lack of recognition among the medical faternity itself so people are sort of ignorant towards the subject and the doctors. Patient exposure is upto you if you want to setup a Pain Clinic you deal with pts. Critical Care deal with patient relatives and before surgery you talk to patient and its relatives. Its all upto you how much you want to get involved
