Is the pedigree symbol for proband and affected male same?
Proband can be affected male or female.
For showing first affected we use an arrow at the corner like this
The proband refers to the first member affected by a genetic disease on a pedigree chart. That first member may be male or female and is referred to by an arrow pointing at the affected member’s depiction on the chart. An affected male will always be denoted by a darkened square. Thank you.
